Оскароносный продюсер Грэм Кинг («Отступники», «Авиатор») и сценаристы The Tudors Морган О’Салливан и Майкл Хирст станут создателями нового исторического сериала Camelot для канала Starz.
Как отправную точку Camelot будет использовать сборник Томаса Мэлори «Le Morte d’Arthur» XV века. Однако сценаристы сделают сюжет интересным для современного зрителя, пытаясь в то же самое время сохранить достоверность происходящего. «Легенда об Артуре – это не история, это мифология, и Камелот – это не место, а воплощение надежды, которое найдет отголоски в любом времени» – сказал президент Starz Крис Альбрехт. Сериал описывается как «романтическое приключение», а сценарий к пилоту написал британский сценарист Крис Чибнэлл (Torchwood).
Starz заказал 10 серий для первого сезона, премьера намечена на первую половину 2011 года. Кастинг уже начался, а съемки начнутся в июне в Ирландии. Изначально проект разрабатывался для Showtime, но в итоге оказался на Starz, на котором уже идет другой исторический сериал – Spartacus.
